Purpose of the USA Judo Junior Judo Rank System The primary purpose of the USA Judo Junior Rank System is to foster the sound technical development of young American Judoka while simultaneously enhancing good character, which is the basis of American citizenship. This system organizes both the instructional, and competitive elements to achieve those goals, and is directed towards young athletes. There is no minimum age for registration of ranks in this system. A secondary purpose of the system is to provide funds for Junior Judo Development, and is explained in the “Administration of the System” section of this manual. All net proceeds from this program, and the related promotion fees will be used to provide grass roots training, and competition opportunities for young Judoka. An additional purpose of the USA Judo Junior Rank System, is to give Judo Coaches everywhere a guide for conducting their programs. It is at the club level where the interaction between the Coach, and the student takes place. At the heart of this instruction is the Coach’s plan for each day, and his or her long term plan for the success of each student. This system assists all Coaches to conduct their activities in a more systematic and effective means.
