LOCAL NEWS

From the IJI President:

Great news!  Our Illinois Judo, Inc. (IJI) Treasurer, Frank Oliveri, has successfully established IJI as a public charity, exempt from Federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Contributions to IJI are deductible under Section 170 of the Code.  We are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106 or 2511 of the Code.  During our next IJI Board Meeting, at the N-S Illinois Judo Tournament, 9:00 AM, 19 May, we will discuss a campaign plan to raise corporate and individual funding under our new tax status.  What an accomplishment by Frank Oliveri on behalf of IJI!  This marks another big opportunity for us.  Let's consider ways to make the most of this development and discuss further.

Thanks,
Tim Schutheis

Karen Mackey's mother Louise Mackey died Friday night, April 20th of a heart attack. It was not a good week for our Judo family and just proves that life is short, live it to the max and be grateful that we all have wonderful Judo family to draw strength and comfort from when times are good as well as bad.  (my thanks to Carol Scheid who let me know about Margaret Hopper and Louise Mackey).
