USA Judo Summer Elite Training Camp Photos

Judo National Training Sites at North Miami and the Jason Morris Judo Center.
Elite athletes from five countries,
including nearly all of the 2007 U.S. World Team members, have been
participating in this month-long series of camps.

China Training
Opportunity – Open to Junior and Senior Elite Players
An opportunity has been made
available for junior and senior elite females to train at the Shenyang Regional
Training Center in Liaoning, Peoples’ Republic of China.
Approximate travel dates are August
4 – 14, 2007. Training is intense and there are four daily sessions with nearly
100 female athletes on the mats each session.
Partial funding via reimbursement is
available to the highest six Olympic weight division Junior Elite athletes who
apply, based on total Elite Junior points from the rosters dated June 25, but
not less than 20. Senior athletes and other Elite Juniors who do not meet
the funding criteria may be able to participate on a self-funded basis.

Overflow Hotel
The headquarters hotel for the USA
Judo National Junior Olympic Championships, July 21-22 in San Antonio, has
officially filled.
The overflow hotel for the
tournament is the St. Anthony Wyndham Hotel. The hotel is three blocks
from the headquarter hotel and the San Antonio Riverwalk so guests
can easily walk over to catch transportation to and from the venue at the
headquarter hotel.

2007 Pan American Infantile Championships Selection
Criteria
The 2007 Pan American Infantile
Championships will be held Nov. 8-12 in Colombia.
This self-funded event is a closed
tournament and only ONE entry per country per division is allowed.
The age divisions are for the 2007
event are:
Year of Birth 1993-1994
Year of Birth 1995-1996

Five U.S. Athletes Win Gold at World Masters Championships
The premier event for athletes aged
30 and over, the World Masters Championships, was held last week in Sao Paulo
Brazil with Team USA winning 16 medals, including five gold.
After moving down to the 90kg, Dennis
Scheib (Atlanta, Ga. / Atlanta Judo) won gold in the 55-59-year-old
division after placing third at 100kg in the 2006 Championships in Tours,
France..
Sandy North (Hollywood, Fla. /
Budokan Judo) returned to the 50-54-year-old 66kg
division and won a gold medal after placing second last year… more>
Chinese and French
Teams Training at Mayo Quanchi Camp
Teams from China and France will be
training at the Mayo Quanchi Training Camp in West Warwick, R.I.
The Chinese team will be training at
the club from now through July 1. The French team will be at the camp
from June 25-July 1.

Fall Classic and Ladder
Tournament Entry Packet Now Available
The entry packet for the Fall
Classic Nationals and Ladder Tournaments has now been posted and is available
at www.usjudo.org/documents/2007FallClassicEntryPacket.pdf.
The Fall Classic, a USA Judo Senior
D-Level Point Tournament, will be held Sept. 1 in Coral Springs, Fla., just outside
Fort Lauderdale. The Ladder Tournament will be held Sept. 2.
For the first time, MASTERS divisions
will be contested for athletes 30-years-old and over on Sept. 2.
USA Judo Partners with France for New Exchange Program
USA Judo is pleased to announce a
new partnership with France in which U.S. players will have the opportunity to
compete against and train with French players, both in the United States and in
France.
A team of five French athletes, led
by coaches Sauveur Soriano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and Maxime Nouvchy (FRA)
will be training in the United States from June 25-July 4.
The team will be conducting a clinic
from 8-10 p.m. on June 25 at Tech Judo in North Bergen, N.J. Entry for
the clinic is $25, payable at the door. For more information, contact
